Definitions of Stress:

 

Stress is a natural reaction in human body which occurs due to mental challenges. Stress creates many different physical, emotional, and mental responses. Everyone should face stress at any moment. Nobody avoid stress. It is an uninvited guest of our life who comes without any knocks at the door.

Stressors provide you stress from time to time. Stress changes your reaction, your action and your thoughts. Stress slowly leads you to think something deeply as well as frantically. Stress becomes problem when you are not able to handle it.

S. Palmer says, “Stress is the psychological, physiological and behavioral response by an individual when they perceive a lack of equilibrium between the demand placed upon them and their ability to meet those demands, which, over a period of time, leads to ill-health.

Hans Selys, known as father of stress Says,” Stress is response based in that it conceptualizes stress chiefly in terms of the body’s physiological reaction to any demand that is placed on it.”

In their book, “Stress, Appraisal and coping.” psychologist Richard Lazarus and Susan Folkman defines stress as the body’s internal reaction to any external stimulus that is deemed harmful.

Sadguru says, “Stress is just your inability to manage your own system. Stress happens not because of the nature of your work.

Wikipedia’s definition illustrates that Stress biology, an organism’s response to a stressor such as an environmental condition.

The American Psychological Association (APA) defines psychological stress as an emotional response to an emotional response to an external trigger.

THE UN body World Health Organization definition tells us that stress is a state of worry or mental tension caused by a difficult situation.

In Medicine Stress is the body’s response to physical, mental or emotional pressure. Stress causes chemical changes in human body that can increase high blood pressure, heartbeat and blood sugar levels. It may lead you to frustration, isolation, fragmentation, anxiety, anger, swing mood, sad, grief, depression or mental stress.

Stress is a widespread phenomenon all around during all human lifespan. All people have experienced it throughout their history and throughout human history. In psychological sciences, stress is a feeling of mental pressure and tension. Low levels of stress might be desired, useful and even healthy. Stress in positive form can improve bio psycho social health and facilitate performance. However high levels of stress could result in biological, psychological and social problems and even serious harms to people.

Types of Stress:

There are various types of stress according to different aspects. Stress itself a feeling, it’s a common and normal feeling. There are three types of stress:

§  Acute stress: A short term stress goes quickly from your mind. It can be positive to make you a new man. Stress is taken as valuable factor to motivation, adaptation and reaction to environment. However high level stress if that becomes short term may harm you.

§  Chronic stress:  A long term stress does not go quickly and try to destroy your mental condition.  Occupational stress, financial stress, marital stress can be taken as chronic stress. It’s a slow poison for you because you do not know how it has destroyed your mental health.

§  Episodic acute stress:  It is short term but frequent stress in your mind.

v  Marital relationship.

v  Occupational problems.

v  Divorces.

v  Quarrelsome nature.

v  Anger.

v  Death of loved ones.

v  Unemployment

v  Social life.

v  Physical problems.

v  Sexual violence.

v  More expectation etc.

       

Symptoms of stress:


1.      Impalpable, irritable and full of anger

2.       Depressive and isolated thoughts

3.       Fearful, anxious and nervous all the time.

4.       Too shy and feeling of inferior

5.       Having mental health problems

6.       Lack of concentration

7.       Unable to gather energetic thoughts

8.       Physical stress difficulty in breathing

9.       Sleep problems

10.   Exhaustion and weak stomach

11.   Headache and high blood pressure

ü  Avoid alcohol and drugs

ü  Focus on time management

ü  Stop negative thinking

ü  Collect courage

ü  Be a fighter
