What is Mental Health Problem?
Different parts of the human body work separately. The brain is an important part of the body. The brain is protected inside our head. Just as diseases like pneumonia and TB occur in the lungs, liver disorders cause jaundice, similarly, various diseases can occur in the brain. Such diseases not only affect the brain, but also adversely affect our mind, thoughts, emotions and intelligence. As a result mental illness appears.
After the onset of mental illness, changes in a person's nature, habits and behavior begin to appear. He starts showing strange behavior which he has never done before. If his changed behavior does not fit with the prevailing culture, religious beliefs and traditions and does not get social recognition, then one should think if it is a symptom of mental disorder and some mental illness. A person suffering from mental illness cannot maintain good relations with other people in the society and cannot formulate future plans and programs properly. Also he cannot properly assess the environment he is related to and his internal or external situation.
Scientists discovered that mental illness, like other diseases, is a disease caused by a malfunction of the body's central nervous system. About 15 percent of the world's population appears to suffer from some form of mental illness, mild or severe. Mental illness is a major problem in today's human society. Unless mental health services are good, health services remain incomplete. In order to make health services effective and efficient, it is absolutely necessary to give equal emphasis to mental health services.
How to recognize mental illness? Is it easy to treat mental illness?
A person suffering from mental illness can be easily recognized if the following written symptoms are studied well:
a) The patient stops doing his daily activities, acts recklessly and gets angry with relatives for no reason. He doesn't listen to what others say and he doesn't appreciate the behavior and norms prevailing in the society. He does not seem to improve even when reminded by relatives and family members. Such a person may often be suffering from severe mental illness psychosis. A person suffering from psychosis may sometimes be "seemingly fine" but may be unduly suspicious, hostile, and fearful of others. He may have hallucinations of hearing sounds that others cannot hear. The main symptom of psychosis is that the patient does not know that he has the disease. This is the reason why the patient does not understand that he needs to be treated and refuses to take medicine. It can be treated if it is noticed early.
b) Some types of mental patients lie down, do not work, speak less or do not speak at all, are bored and sometimes "cry". Such patients experience poor sleep, lack of interest in food, headaches, chills, stomachaches, backaches and weakness. The main symptoms of this disease are depression and unwanted thoughts. Even when these symptoms increase, if there is no treatment, the disease is called depression. After depression, he may even want to commit suicide. Sometimes a person suffering from depression stops speaking, stuttering and even stops eating and drinking. Since a patient with such a condition quickly becomes weak physically, his treatment should also be started immediately.
c) Patients with chronic wasting disease are also found. This disease usually starts in childhood or youth. The withering sequence repeats itself intermittently. When you are sick, you may fall sick, get injured, bite your lips and tongue, look like your eyes are moving, foam at the mouth, tremble, and sometimes you may faint and suck urine. This type of withering disease is called scurvy. In the society, it is not considered as a disease but as a disease. If not treated in time, such patients will develop mental disorders and even madness may appear. Therefore, epilepsy can be cured if timely treatment is given to such patients and their relatives.
d) Children who do not have timely physical and intellectual development, their intellectual development is delayed and their intelligence is also retarded. Such children are slow to speak, they also start stuttering late. They do not have full development of language. They cannot study in school like other children of their age. Diseases and disorders that occur during pregnancy or after birth often lead to the creation of such a condition. This is called a dull state of mind. Since this problem is the result of the effects of other diseases, more attention should be paid to its prevention than its treatment. The health of pregnant women and young children should be treated in time.
e) Some people suffer from unnecessary worry and fear. Such people have trouble sleeping at night, dreaming too much, cravings and panic attacks due to anxiety. The patient feels completely sick. He worries about his illness more than necessary. Often, such patients have been hospitalized for a long time and have taken various medicines, but they have not had a good effect. They have a habit of visiting hospitals and clinics. This type of anxiety disorder is called neurosis. Such patients should be given real information about the disease by reminding them better than by giving them any medicine. His problem should be encouraged and treated.
Sometimes the normal illness caused by anxiety manifests itself in strange ways. For example: lying down as if unconscious, crying out in a faint, clenching his teeth, resisting when others try to handle him carefully, etc. The rash of such patients is not so dangerous. Even when the patient is unconscious, there are no symptoms of injury, tongue or lip biting, urinary incontinence etc. After discontinuing the covering, the patient recovered completely. This disease usually occurs in people who are weak minded, dependent on others but have an immature mind who wants to be appreciated.
f) There is no dearth of heavy drinkers in the society. Similarly, the number of drug addicts is also increasing. People who are involved in Kulat are not mentally healthy. Therefore, it is not enough to treat them only for physical ailments. Change and improvement in mental status should be brought about. Due to the influence of social, economic, psychological and many other personal reasons, people fall into drug addiction. So unless these various causes of addiction are addressed, treatment efforts will continue to fail.
